ContractIQ: Contract Analysis and Revision for Saudi Enterprises

How we built an AI system that reads, flags, and rewrites contracts for a Saudi enterprise client — cutting legal review cycles from days to hours.

ContractIQ: Contract Analysis and Revision for Saudi Enterprises

Overview

Contract review is one of the highest-cost, highest-risk tasks in enterprise legal teams. A mid-size Saudi company with an active procurement and partnership pipeline was reviewing dozens of contracts per month — manually, slowly, and inconsistently.

ContractIQ is the system we built to change that. It reads contracts in Arabic and English, flags risk clauses, benchmarks terms against internal standards, and suggests revisions — all before a lawyer opens the document.

The Problem

  • Legal team was bottlenecked reviewing high volumes of vendor and partnership agreements
  • No consistent standard for what counted as an acceptable clause
  • Bilingual contracts (Arabic + English) created additional friction — different reviewers, different standards
  • Junior staff lacked the experience to flag non-obvious risks

What We Built

Contract Ingestion & Parsing

  • PDF and DOCX parsing with structure preservation (sections, clauses, schedules)
  • Bilingual handling: Arabic and English contracts processed in a unified pipeline
  • Clause-level segmentation with type tagging (liability, payment, IP, termination, etc.)

Risk Flagging Engine

  • Clause-level risk classification: High / Medium / Low / Standard
  • Benchmarked against a library of the client's previously approved contracts
  • Flags: one-sided liability caps, ambiguous jurisdiction clauses, missing termination rights, non-standard payment terms

Revision Suggestions

  • For flagged clauses, the system generates alternative language aligned with the client's internal standard
  • Revision explanations included — lawyers can accept, modify, or reject with one click
  • Full audit trail: every suggestion tied to the rule that triggered it

Review Workflow Integration

  • Dashboard for legal team showing contract status, risk score, and flagged items
  • Export to Word with tracked changes — the final review step stays with the lawyer
  • Evaluation pipeline (BEval Studio) runs on every batch to monitor suggestion quality over time

Results

  • Review cycle cut from ~3 days to ~4 hours for standard vendor agreements
  • Risk coverage: system catches 90%+ of clause types previously flagged manually
  • Adoption: legal team processes all incoming contracts through ContractIQ before human review
  • Revision acceptance rate: ~72% of AI-suggested revisions accepted as-is
